What does the Truist Financial Corp do?
BB&T is a FHC headquartered in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. BB&T conducts its business operations primarily through its bank subsidiary, Branch Bank, and other nonbank subsidiaries. Merger with SunTrust On February 7, 2019, BB&T entered into an agreement and plan of merger, by and between BB&T and SunTrust, pursuant to which SunTrust will merge with and into BB&T, with BB&T as the suriving entity in the merger. Immediately following the merger, SunTrust's wholly owned subsidiary, SunTrust Bank, will merge with and into Branch Bank, with Branch Bank as the surviving entity. Under the terms of the merger agreement, shareholders of SunTrust will receive 1.295 shares of BB&T common stock for each share of SunTrust common stock. The merger agreement was unanimously approved by both companies' Boards of Directors.
