It also develops, constructs, and operates renewable energy generation facilities using wind, solar, and thermal power. The company, formerly known as Iberdrola USA, Inc., was founded in 1852 and is based in New Gloucester, Maine. Avangrid, Inc. is a subsidiary of Iberdrola, S.A.
